Manx Precision Optics (MPO) recently expanded the business with support from Business Isle of Man within the Department for Enterprise. The company, who is a member of the Isle of Man Aerospace Cluster, was able to purchase new capital equipment with grant assistance as part of the Department’s Business Support Scheme.
As a result of this expansion, MPO are looking for individuals to fill the following positions:
PRECISION ENGINEER
We are looking for a highly skilled Engineer, experienced in the operation of precision engineering machine tools, in particular, Bridgeport milling machines and manual lathes. Reporting to our Operations Manager, your duties will include the design and manufacture of assembly holders and mounts, also tooling and machinery used in our Production process. You will be expected to produce basic engineering drawings and to assist in our Grinding Shop. Part-time working will be considered.
TRAINEE POLISHING TECHNICIAN
Reporting to our Polishing Manager, you will join a small team of highly skilled operatives and be trained to an excellent standard. Your on-the-job training will include all aspects of the optical grinding and polishing processes. You will be trained to operate interferometers, grinding machines and lap polishers and to interpret designs. You must be focused, careful, with good attention to detail and good hand-eye co-ordination. You also need to be self-motivated and work well in a team.
PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
Reporting to our Polishing Manager, you will assist with Optical grinding and polishing, Bead blasting, general support and cleaning. You must be focused, careful, with good attention to detail and good hand-eye co-ordination. You also need to be self-motivated and work well in a team. Training will be given.
All applicants are required to have a minimum of two GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths.
